The Simple Diet Step 2

So, I hope you have mastered Step 1 of the Simple Diet by now.  Umm, you forgot what Step 1 was?

Sigh… let us review all that we have learned.  Step 1:  Eat three meals each day.  If you must snack; snack on fruits and veggies.  Remember this information.  There will be a quiz at the end.

Step 2:  Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Queen and dinner like a Pauper.

What does it mean to eat breakfast like a King?  Make sure your breakfast is rich in colors and protein.  An instant packet of oatmeal or a piece of toast is NOT what any king that I know would eat.  (Although I do remember reading that THE KING ate peanut butter and bananas on toast.  A lot of peanut butter and bananas. So many peanut butter and bananas that his sparkly white suit started bulging at the seams and became quite unseamly.)

Oh nevermind, as we continue along this Simple Diet path we will talk a lot more about what makes up a Kingly breakfast.  Statistics do show that people who do not eat breakfast or who eat a carbohydrate based breakfast are more likely to be overweight.

Lettuce move on to a lunch fit for a Queen.  I do believe a Queen would have a nice lunch of tea and finger sandwiches with watercress.  This might be interpreted in American slang to be a sandwich made with lean turkey and piled high with fresh veggies. Once again this is a good example of lean protein and lots of color.

And finally, dinner like a pauper.  I think a pauper might have a small bowl of soup and an apple.  The soup of course would have some protein added.

And that is the Simple Diet Step 2.

Now, can you tell me what Step 1 was without looking?

Ha!  Ha!  Made ya look!

Yes, I do have a very warped sense of humor.

Hi, I’m Mary Kate. I love to try new foods and explore new restaurants and coffee shops, and even went on a homemade bagel-making kick this summer! My interest in nutrition started in middle school with my mom adding more veggies to our meals and making them taste interesting and fun, which sparked my interest to help her cook and learn more about how the food we eat impacts us every day. Over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact that proper nutrition and daily fueling can have on overall health. Like many of my clients, I have faced challenges with my own gut health and hormonal changes, so I can relate to the frustrations and fatigue that come with seeking relief. Through personalized care and tailored nutrition, I discovered the keys to my health, and my goal is to help others bring their sense of vitality back!
