I like rules. I set up my own rules. I like simple rules like my simple diet. My rules help keep me motivated. You can set up your own rules that best match your lifestyle.
One of my rules: I have to run one minute for each year of my age. (I am not going to tell you how old I am.) I always add one minute on my birthday each year. Then through the year I run that length of time on a regular basis.
Today I ran for 59 minutes. As my body was creaking along, I was thinking about this rule. Will I be able to follow this rule when I am 80 or 90? Should I change the rule now while I still can?
I have decided this is still a very good rule. It keeps me on track. As my next birthday approaches I know that I have to be able to add a minute to my running. This provides an automatic goal. What is your rule for today?
I told you I was not going to tell you how old I am. The quiz question for today is: Can you calculate my age? (I know this is upper level math but I am sure you can do it.) If you think you have determined my age, please don’t tell anyone. I want to keep it just between us friends.
