Use 1 cup of quinoa and 2 cups of water.
Rinse the quinoa in a strainer under running water or swish in a bowl of water and strain. Shake dry.
Pour into a preheated deep skillet or wide saucepan over medium low heat, stirring until it begins to darken slightly (about 8 minutes). Add the water and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cook covered until the liquid is absorbed and the quinoa is fluffy (12-18 minutes). Cook over medium heat until it begins to darken. Set aside to cool.
